My name is Matthew Flynn, I started Bluebird to provide fast, friendly, and thorough home inspection services throughout Northern Utah.

I began my career in the construction industry in Coronado, CA. apprenticing under Bobby Chapman Construction in 2002. While there I quickly became proficient in carpentry and project site management. I helped remodel and build many homes abd businesses throughout the Coronado, San Diego, and Surrounding Southern CA areas which included a major renovation of a commercial brewhouse, the Coronado Brewing Company. Upon Bobby Chapman’s retirement I was hired by KD Construction, first as an apprentice carpenter then promoted to a supervisory position. We completed a great many challenging and fun renovations, during which I personally acquired a wide array of hands-on restoration and preservation carpentry techniques, along with general project management and critical path methodologies.

I moved to Utah in 2012 which I felt was a more family friendly environment and was immediately hired as a pipelayer for Kapp Construction. Shortly afterward I switched back to doing renovation carpentry for Bill Brechbill at PCR/Classic Remodeling in Ogden. While there I worked hands on, supervised, and completed numerous renovation projects both large and small throughout the Ogden and Salt Lake areas. This included some unusual and fun work with Hawkwatch Intl, and a cutting-edge ground up custom home in the Ogden valley which featured many sustainable and environmentally conscious methods and technologies utilized throughout.

Seeking to broaden my knowledge of the construction industry, I was very lucky to study under Greg Mathews and Mark Watts at Automated Structures, first as a truss designer then advancing to design manager. While there I learned an incredible amount about the deeper design elements of modern structures; and much, much more. I am so grateful for all of the opportunities and knowledge the people named here and so many others have blessed me with.

In 2017, I established Top Gun Builders, an R-100 General Contracting company which has successfully completed many assorted projects from single bathroom renovations and small kitchen backsplashes, up to and including designing and framing entire new structures.

In 2021, I created Bluebird Home Inspections. It is founded on the solid and broad portfolio I have amassed while working for more than a decade navigating the complexities of the construction industry.
